* Became wholly owned subsidiary of Infogrames Entertainment in 2008
* Prior to the total acquisition by Infogrames Entertainment, Atari was traded with symbol ATAR
* One of the founders, Nolan Bushnell, was a player of ancient Chinese game called "Go"
* The company was named after the Japanese word which means "hit a jackpot" (the word is used as an American would use a word "bingo!"
* The company logo was designed by George Opperman, and it is a stylized letter "A" with additional inspiration coming from Atari's famous "Pong" game. According to George, the two side pieces of the Atari symbol represent two opposing video game players, with the center line of the "Pong" court in the middle.
* The company logo is widely known as "Fuji", but how and when the nickname started is unknown
